The surgical department works towards reinforcing and extending the student's basic knowledge and skills already learned in their early years of medical education, and to enable the student to assume increasing responsibility for comprehensive care of the surgical patient that includes both the preventive and therapeutic aspects. This holistic approach encompasses the patient's emotional, familial, social, and community circumstances as well as organic pathology.
In addition to the clinical skills , the student is expected to learn some teaching and research skills
- Professionalism and communication skills
- Ethics and medico legal issues in surgery
- Health Promotion and Prevention of surgical conditions (such as diabetic amputations)
We aim to graduate a high caliber doctor with adequate knowledge, skills, and good attitude, who is able to communicate, diagnose and treat surgical patients in a safe and effective manner.
