About

It is of paramount importance for the students (future doctors) to be well-trained in Pediatrics and child health for the following:

  • Children make the majority of our population, children below the age of 15 years make about 50 %, while those below 5 years, and make about 20%.
  • Children  are more prone to diseases and death . A child can be running around and playing while their little systems are breaking down. In Sudan children < 5 years have 50% of the total deaths.
  • Most of this high mortality is due to infectious diseases, malnutrition, diarrhea and these are preventable diseases.
  • children suffer from all diseases which adult might get, but the effect among infants and children are worse because they are growing and they are having low immunity. Children are not just little adults ,they have a whole physiology all their own.
  • Taking care of children requires special training and expertise .
