Department of Pathology

About

Pathology is a field of medicine that study and diagnose disease by  focusing on the causes, mechanisms of disease development (pathogenesis), morphologic changes in cells, and the consequences of these changes (clinical manifestations). A pathologist examines surgically removed organs, tissues (biopsy samples), physiological fluids, and, in rare circumstances, the entire body (autopsy).

Pathology is a broad field of study and research, aspects of a biological specimen that may be considered include its general anatomical make-up, cell appearance utilizing immunological markers, and chemical signatures in the cells.

Different pathology specialties exist based on the sorts of samples involved ( cytopathology, chemical pathology ,hemato-pathology, and histopathology)

The department of pathology is one of the strongest departments in our faculty with its experienced and active members contributing all throughout  the different courses and interacting closely with the students through problem solving sessions ,tutorials ,laboratory visits and discussion groups.

As an essential basic science ,we are keen to present knowledge no matter how intricate it is in an easy  and palatable way to our students ,putting in mind the latest researches and laboratory innovations ,as our field is always on the move.
